Solidarity Against Racism - Barrie SC & Simcoe County Rovers FC

Good Evening Members,

As an affiliate of the Simcoe County Rovers FC, I regret to write to you today about an extremely disturbing incident that occurred last night in the Rovers Women’s match away at Electric City in Peterborough, ON.
The match was abandoned by Rovers team officials, after disgusting racially motivated abuse of one of the Rovers female players.  As I’m sure you will all agree, there is no room for Racism in our game, or anywhere for that matter.
I am proud to be a part of this organization and respect the steps that were taken last night.  Below you will see the official statement.

What can you do??

This Saturday June 18th, 2022, at 4pm, as the Women take the pitch for our next home match, we encourage you all to be there and Stand in Solidarity with these young ladies, by providing them a standing ovation!
The team will be taking part in an on field show of solidarity right at the first whistle, and we encourage everyone to be there and show our solidarity with them, especially for the young lady that was impacted by this!
The team, staff and all involved in the organization will also be wearing special apparel to show our support of our teammate, and the Zero Tolerance of any kind of Racism.

ALL Barrie Soccer players and families will be provided free access to this match as we want to show our support and solidarity around this very important matter!
It is a great opportunity to teach our young players that we condemn racism and that ALL are Equal!

We hope to see you there!  Wear your Barrie gear to show support!  #SayNO2RACISM #ZeroTolerance

Best Regards,
Will Devellis
